To the person who asked me why.
Spring semester, Freshman year.
Do you remember me?
The loud girl in the back of the class.
The one who never listened.
The one that never wanted to be called on.
That's me.
But then I found you,
Mrs. O'brien.
The only person who tried to understand me.
The only person who asked me why.
Why was I acting up?
Why was I sad?
Why.
All these questions that made me think.
It’s because of you I’ve changed.
You helped me find how to express my feelings
I also learned to stop keeping my emotions in.
It’s because of you that I know how to listen and stay still.
I’m grateful for you.
I’ve become confident in myself because of you.
I found my love for Accounting because of you.
I got an internship because of you.
Mrs. O'brien, you’ve been my mother figure for years.
This the person who always asked me why.
