The Person You Love

No one tells you,

How it should be

The way I love,

Is up to me

And no one tells you,

What it’s like

To feel that way,

From time to time

No one tells you,

What a healthy relationship is

Cause I build those myself,

And I live how I live

Does the person you love,

Take care of you when you’re sad?

When you scream and cry,

And insist that you can’t

And when you’re angry,

When your whole body lights up,

Do they calm you down,

Instead of firing you up?

And let me ask you this:

Does the person you love,

Are they your best friend?

Or a lack thereof?

And the most important of all

Does the person you love, help you love yourself

They build you up

And expect nothing else.
