Petal-Pusher

Was I a reincarnate of your nightmares?

Time, embodied, with a worried head

Regret left alone with disgust at the double doors of our love

Grown into a rose but who was there to plant me?

Open up my jumbled mind to dance circles around the gravestone sticking out of your head

I never waited for your water.

Closed my eyes and fell, a flower unfaltered with no one to save her

Dependent on honesty and blinded by truth

I lov’d you

Before I knew you were a petal-pusher

Waiting, cross-legged on the gave of your dead mother

Fostering this new beauty with the hungry eyes of a little boy,

And I always knew myself to be the chosen one

But you, petal-pusher?

A reincarnate of my carnal dreams.

A dead shell, and with it you buried an old me.
