Peter

Peter

I could not tell

When we first met

His joy was so contagious

The sun shone upon our backs

Shone on us as we biked

He conquered that bike

The reason we had met

His joy was still contagious

Yet the air was cold the day I felt it

Felt the lump that kills

How can just a little lump

Make a boy so sick?

His joy is still contagious

The leaves fall now but still he fights

Fights the lump that kills

I cannot see him now

While taken he may be

With his joy I am contagious

The bikes, sun, leaves all remain

Yet I am wholly changed
