Instead, stayed behind

Only to find

Climbing through windows is much more fun than walking through doors.

What if Peter decided to stay

By Wendy’s side

Despite being terrified

Of the complications, frustrations, and transformations maturity brings every day.  

What if he found adulthood depressing?

Job, Bills, Taxes

Just to realize he lacks it.

The freedom he had with his youth before all the stressing.

What if Wendy turned out to be distant?

Never really wondering

How her husband was slumbering

But rather constantly obsessing at how her nail beds became nonexistent.  

But something Wendy never knew,

Each night after the clock would sing

Twisting, Turning, Tilting, Trembling  

He flew.
