Petrichor on My Tongue
The torrent continues, its deluge of suffering overpowering my weak-minded ideals.
Swept away, I am a raindrop in the downpour of many.
Swept away, I am still here, to my ineffable respite.
And I breathe in the sour scent of my smirr, sodden yet dry.
As petrichor lingers in the misty air.
Not once had I thought of their blossoming petals.
Dirty and damp, but welcoming to my kind.
My raindrop clings to a towel as others pummel to the ground.
Saving me from damnation is the rainbow that I’ll never stop being.
As petrichor fills my airy tears.
I have been taken by kin, yet I’ll never forget.
Lingering glances at my rainbow in the sky, sodden yet dry.
They never asked why.
But limerence is a fate that I won’t suffer.
Suffering is for that of a stray kitten.
But the lion feeds on the downpour.
The lion enjoys the rain, clinging to his hair.
As petrichor lingers in the misty air.
