The pH of Tears

What is the pH of tears?

Are they acidic?

Falling in anger and rage

Contagious disbelief and defiance

Is that why they sting the corners of your eyes

And sear your cheeks

As they slide down?

Or do they fall on the other end of the spectrum?

Basic--like bleach

Silent sorrows: loneliness and depression

Hopelessness

Simple effects, yet strong enough to eat away at your insides

Gnawing on your conscience;

Dulling the edges of your heart

Or could tears be neutral?

Bittersweet

The ones fallen with friends

Who can’t breathe for laughing

Counteracting

The heart-wrenching cries

That alter reality

What is the pH of tears?
