The Phantom

As a phantom haunts his weakened prey

So I see you day by day
And you know not that you curse
You may as well write this verse

If you never shined into my view
as the sun hinders my sight
If you never cleansed my heart anew
or sent my feet in flight

Then only then I may look away
As you descend into the room
I may be undistracted and pray
And no longer long for a tomb

So is there a spell dear haunting ghoul
leave me be with desperate wanting
Pity the weak and weary fool
For your presence is ever daunting

Yet there is a taste you give
and I want to join with you immortal
unless you leave me forever
open to me a renewing portal
