Phases of Ethan

You were once held in the warmest part of the world

Before you knew the sand and sky,

You knew her

And a fellow boy developed with you

And he to be your brother

And this was all you knew

Then you arrived

They called you a sweet babe and swaddled you in a blanket

Yourself and the child who developed alongside you grew to be children

They called you a good biy and gave you sports and recreation

Your patriarch placed your hand in his and guided them through the motion

Of how to throw, catch and grasp

Onto dreams you had yet to realize

And the woman who first held you in the warmest place was

Loving and kind

As time went on, you would not let this go unnoticed

You've become even older and you are a teenager

They call you handsome and many know your name

Young women scream and swoon for you

For reasons you don't understamd

And as happy as you, there are things going wrong

Like when your father falls ill and his hands appear more to you calloused than ten years pror

Stress and sadness can interfere with joy

And it's hard to be honest

With the reflections of light shone

through the glass you just broke

Until the girls and the external world are silenced

And you remember

You are just a sweet, good boy

Who wants to repair things and people and see them well
