Phoenix By: Audrey Pruitt

It was a regular night just like any other

I just got done laughing with my mother

I cooked my food and filled my belly

While my brother was begging me for a peanut butter jelly

It was a regular night just like any...

Until I heard screams and heavy feet thudding across the floor

Fire! Fire! He screamed

As the red and orange flames gleamed

Tears and panicked humans fled out the window

The fire was a villain but at the same time my hero

It was a regular night just like…

But at the end I had no house

No home just my neighbors couch

Flashbacks of the flames, the smell of burning memories

As horrible as I felt I won’t let it be the end of me

So I guess it wasn’t a regular night

Because that’s the night that changed my life

That’s the night that made me grateful

That made kind happy and able

Able to know that nothing can stop me

I’m stronger than I think, and I will let that drive me

So the fire didn’t burn down my house it burned up my fear

And with no fear I will become Americas Fearless leader
