A Phone Call Away.......

A Phone Call Away.......

“Mate remember this

I am only just a phone call away,”

‘tis been said

many times before;

from a well-meaning friend

or family member,

who at the time can see

that you have a desperate need.

“Call me; any time!

night or day!

when you feel

you’re not coping well,

and you have this urgent need

just to have a chat,

since I will always be at home for you,

and at the other end of the blower

when you sense

you’re down and out.”

Well my friend!

‘twas just the other day;

I took you up on your word,

and your offer,

when I was feeling in dire straights,

and a little out of sorts,

but lo and behold!

what did my little pinkies hear,

“G’day friend,

sorry we’re not at home just now,

it was truly nice of you to call

eel free to leave a message after the beeps;

and we will get back to you,

when we have the time.”

Just then in utter annoyance,

my ring-a-ling-a-ding

did hit the bloody floor!

after colliding with the wall,

I swore out quite loudly “Oh SCHITT!”

Not another one of those;

bloody answering machines,

“and remember mate

I am just a phone call away.”
