The Photo

When I look at the photo it all comes back

The memories slowly begin to unpack

I look at the letters we wrote before

The writings of love we both cared fo

I recall how it felt being held in your arms

To be loved and respected, overcome by your charm

And I look at me now and the mess I've created

And after it all it seemed somehow fated

I forget all the how's and the why's and the when's

All the meaningless excuses I used back then

I remember your smile and your touch and your kiss

I remember the feeling of an eternal bliss

But I must not look back on us for too long

For I know that all we had been was so wrong

Built on lies and pain and strife

Yet still I let you become my whole life
