Photogenic Memory

paralyzed by a sudden realization

i stand staring

at a picture

a memory

a time from long ago

you were there too

i remember your eyes

how they made me believe everything was going to be okay

cognizant,

i return to the present

there is no more you

no more us

only me

a hold on life is all i have

a grasp on consciousness is all i can manage
