Physicality

He said the face is just a window to the soul inside.

Like my words are a window to my thoughts,

But I can’t quite get either one right.

Sometimes when I close my eyes I forget what I look like.

I feel myself filling the room and I am also the size of a grain of sand.

My eyes become one large eye, my body a tree, a rock.

I wish I didn’t have this body

And these awkward words

Obscuring my soul.

I want to be understood,

but my boundless inner light

must rely on my imperfect physical self

to be seen at all.
