Pick Up This Pen

My heart beats faster each moment I’m awake

I have this feeling that I just can’t shake

This pain inside I’m about to break

I’m walking a thin line between life and death

Struggling to catch my breath

My life is flashing before my very eyes

I can feel my blood pressure starting to rise

Tired of other’s trying to cut me down to size

I’m discovering who I want to be

There’s things going on that others don’t see

I question my ability

Looking for something positive

I have to stay active

Choose to live

Choose to forgive

Today I choose to look at myself in the mirror

I choose to see the good

Take off this hood

Start living my life

It’s time to pick up this pen

I choose to start writing again
