A Piece of Me

Grab that pencil No, not your right hand Your left hand "Write about poetry" Well there's haiku and prose and rhythm and beats and theme and Vocabulary isn't for me I just write Not about lights or kites or fights or dust mites or nights I'm not much for rhyming I just let my hand move The intricate cursive that I practiced so much Now flows naturally The pen is my guide I don't write for you or an audience of for anyone really I write to write Not this structure or that topic or something to speak to you I just take a piece of me and put it into pencil lead marks So let me give you A piece of me
