Piece of Peace

I wake up in the morning,

tense from the long sleepless night.

Memories replay over and over spontaneously-

Some make me question their legitimacy,

or did they occur contemporaneously?

"Am I the same girl from infancy?"

Jumping out of bed,

i almost bump my head,

on the transparent ceiling I have built

with the stumbling blocks of my own guilt.

Head throbing, knees aching ,

will I ever get past the age of thrty?

Surely not like this

when I continually fail to see Life's bliss.

Lord, If You're here with me now,

Please, help me clearly see somehow.

If You're not willing,

I understand.

But, at least take my sorrow as a shilling

for the times I ran fom Your hand.

All I want is to come home,

and hear you say,"Shalom!"
