Piece By Piece
Piece by piece Zeus assembles his greatest creation.
Piece by piece clay will take the form of a being of sublime complexity.
Shaping the eyes that will gaze upon the extraordinary beauty of Gaea,
and observe an array of colours both light and dark,
composing the soft white sparkle of snow,
to the perfect blend of oranges, yellows, and reds of a vibrant sunrise.
Hands that will give man his strength and the ability to touch,
and feel the invigorating tingle of a snowflake in his palm,
the softness of the petal of a rose on his fingertips,
or the warmth of his lover’s cheeks.
Hands that will enable him to climb prodigious heights,
and keep a firm hold of his dreams.
Legs that will hold him steady as he bares the experience of life,
and will carry him boundless distances,
from the safety of his mother’s arms,
to the silent hands of death.
Finally a heart beneath his breasts that will allow him to feel beyond touch;
Experience compassion, anger, joy and the most profound, love,
and leave a trace of himself in everything he touches.
Piece by piece Zeus assembles his greatest creation.
