Piece by Piece

Piece by piece, I fell apart.

Piece by piece, every little piece fell.

You watched as pieces of me dissolved

From the strong, confident woman

To a weak, fragile girl.

Piece by piece, I pray your face never escapes

Piece by piece, I wish that I do not succumb to the fear

You took something from me

And replaced it with something else

Piece by piece, everything changed.

Piece by piece, I fell apart.

Piece by piece, I lost myself

You took my voice

You took my bravery

And you will never give it back.

Piece by piece, my fight went away.

Piece by piece, I shut everyone out.

You gave me a secret

That I have to live with

For the rest of my life.
