Pieces

Are we a jigsaw? Or sudoku?

Are you the mug and I the coffee?

Or are you the bird whilst I'm the worm?

Because you are my air, my sun, my moon.

But am I your water, your shelter, your friend?

You're a huge part of my life,

And I know I'm a part of yours.

I'm falling too hard, I already know.

All this chasing you puts

In my heart a knife.

We're both the eldest,

But neither the boldest.

We're of the same faith,

And our families are familiar to one another;

Plus, we're best friends.

So why, after all these years, has there been no spark?

Just mere flirting, nothing more.

It gets on my nerves, and is driving me crazy.

I can see our future, many years ahead.

But until then, my heart is torn into pieces.
