Pieces

How do you decide to follow your heart when it is lying in pieces on the floor?

And it seems like every time it rains, it just continues to pour.

I don't think that some people realize that just because you have a lot going for you does not mean that you are okay,

And that it takes all the strength in you just to keep yourself alive for one more day.

If you have someone you love, and they actually love you back, make sure that you cherish it,

Because some of us keep falling in love with people who unfortunately will never fit.

It sucks when for so long you thought you knew what the problem was, but you find out that you are just not good enough,

And you so badly wanted to believe that someone would love you for you, but the reality has been rough.

Sometimes, we just need to accept the fact that we will never be good enough, no matter how hard we try,

And you wake up everyday and tell yourself that you're okay, but you know it's all a lie.

It feels like someone ripped out your heart and stomped on it a million times,

And it hurts when you know that you would do anything for someone, but you never once even crossed their mind.

Sometimes it hurts being a good person, because you would never do to someone what they do to you,

And it seems like you have done it all, and there is nothing else that you can do.

But you're at the point where you can't take it anymore, and mentally you're breaking,

And your head is in pain, and your heart is breaking into pieces that you are aching.

As much as you don't want to, you look at the girls you know he likes, and you realize how different you are,

And to him, you were the dust under his feet that he never thought about, but to you, he was a one in a million star.

It hurts, because the things that everyone is saying are things that you would never say,

And you so badly wanted to believe that things would not turn out that way.

We can't help who we love, and if we could, that would change everything,

Because maye love wouldn't hurt so much, and there is only joy that it would bring.

Some of us need to accept that no matter how hard we try, things just don't go the way we planned,

And that we need to keep ourselves going, because there is no one else there when we need a hand.

Sometimes, all you really need is just someone to at least pretend to care and give you a hug,

Because that could heal anything, and it doesn't have to be some special drug.

Everyone told me I was crazy, and I so badly wanted to believe that none of them were right,

And now, I keep it together, but I still cry myself to sleep every night.

But lately it's getting to the point where I am falling apart during the day,

And I know that I am going to break down when someone asks me if I'm okay.

But that's what hurts the most, is that I know there is no one who will notice enough to care,

And you suddenly wake up and realize how it's all so unfair.

To constantly be the one who is checking in on everyone else, but no one ever checks in on you,

And it hurts because the things that are coming true are the ones that you always knew.

So you fake a smile, and you still check on everyone else and ask if they are okay,

But you are continuing to break more and more every day.
