Pile on the World

Pile on the World’s Burden Add to its distress Watching all its denizens failing to comprehend Each one caring just a little less Patiently waiting for the tides to turn Hoping for the cease of war Its weary eyes tired of all the gruesome sights Its unheard prayers reverberating deep into its core Pile on the World’s Burden Forced to calmly wait for things to change All the while knowing of its slow deterioration Softly observing its inhabitants being reduced into the lowest range Its helplessness obvious, as the bad grows to worse Exhausted from its people tearing, ripping, scratching at each other Desiring little more than to scold its naughty children And ensure their safe return to their ever caring mother Pile on the World’s Burden Now lingering noiselessly to be pronounced dead Gently cursing twisted Fate Secretly wishing for something - anything - to be said Sick of breathing all the toxic air Inaudibly pleading for a hero to lead it back into the warming light Yearning to bask, again, in the ever peaceful stream Clandestinely afraid that everything will fade into the never-ending night
