pinking

I was killing time             when I decided
I hated pink
Flaring like a marshmallow         brûlée
In the flames                                  like
A drop of grapefruit massaged from dry pulp
And I burned                    my pink closet
And I burned                    rosy cheeks
And I burned                    femininity
I became a blue girl        purple green red yellow
Warbling on the opposite end of the palette
Learning my callouses    eating my flesh inside of them
And tearing pastel petals from my skeleton
I was craving time           when I picked up a pink tee
Again and I
Remember                       my hardness burned me
Into ashes                                       growing back
As blushing flowers                       realizing
Pink hadn’t made me weak
Inflexibility did
