Pinocchio's Past

The wooden puppet just wanted to be a real boy,

To have bones and veins would bring him so much joy,

But his story didnt start as a toy,

Infact, his real name was Troy.

Like any boy, he wore clothes,

His cheeks were as red as a rose,

But his only flaw is one that a witch chose,

To take away his perfect nose.

She hated him for being a liar,

Since he was the one who took her spare tire,

The boy even set her house on fire,

And to punish him was her only desire.

He asked for his nose back the same day,

She told him that he will soon have to pay,

Without hearing her, the boy agreed,

He had no regret until he turned thirdteen.

She came back to punish the boy for good,

Saying a spell and turning him to wood.

A log that she gave to a woodcarver,

Near Florence and no farther.

She told him to make a puppet that could resemble his son,

The woodcarver said it would be done.

The boy became wood but he still had his nose,

But no more lies or else it grows.

This is the story of Pinocchio's past,

But beware the witch because he isnt the last.
