Pity

“Pity Party”

that’s what she said

after she got the phone call

that her child needs counseling due to depression

those words HURT.

it tied around her neck like a slip knot

she just wanted to jump

she’s tired of crying

she’s tired of not feeling like enough

she just wants the bad days to be good

who would’ve known

someone you known your whole life

gone through things that they dont know of

the name calling

the consistent feelings of hatred

from someone who is apart of them

that makes you feel like

why’re you like this

why do you constantly do things

you know she’ll make you feel

like you did something wrong

maybe you thought it would be different

maybe you thought she’d be more considerate

maybe you thought “okay it’ll be better this time”

it wasn’t .

it was worse

She doesn’t care.

Intense. Raw. and Real. Your honesty and the emotion here is powerful. The style of the poem is also very effective in driving home the message. Eloquent and skillful.
