A Place

Sometimes I wish I had a place

A place that no one could find.

A place where I could be totally free

And able to speak my mind.

A place of safety, a place of peace

Where I am left all alone

Where I won’t have to bite my tongue

And all my thoughts will be known.

A place where I can go to hide

And escape this world so cold.

Where I can make my choices my own

And, what to do, I will never be told.

A place that’s pure, a place that’s warm

A place that is clean and white

Where I don’t have to be someone else

And the real me shines so bright.

A place to play, a place to dance

And to sing with all my heart.

A place to smile and laugh and love

A place of which I’m a part.

Someday I know I will find this place

This place where I will be free

And I know that somewhere out there

My place is waiting for me.
