This Place
As my final high school days finally approach, I realize I anxiously waited 4 years for these days to come.
As my final high school days finally approach, I realize there is an unfamiliar fear rising up inside me.
How exciting it all seemed so long ago. So long ago that was not that long ago after all.
I’m secretly scared. Scared of no longer have that security blanket of familiarity.
The routine schedule I have come to known in this short-time of my adulthood is no longer mine.
The simplicity of all these complicated relationships seem so foreign.
Where did it go? I secretly want it back. I want the days before high school. I want the days before middle school. I want to find that place where life consisted of simple choices and no accountability.
I want to find that place and stay there.
That place that I remember so well but no longer exists.
That place that molded my memories and held my innocence.
But this is my place now. A place full of complicated choices and accountability.
I belong to this place as it now belongs to me.
