The Places Depression Visits
Insomnia seems to grace me
With his presence each night.
Loneliness often deafens me
With the words he left unspoken.
Anxiety holds me hostage,
Invoking memories I want to forget.
Emptiness pours out thoughts
I try not to think about.
Recklessness knocks at my door
And invites himself in like an old friend.
Pain, when I'm alone, has a romantic way
Of making me feel wanted.
Madness sweeps me into his arms
For a moment, making me feel home.
Guess they always go to
The places Depression visits.
Interest walked away without saying goodbye
And I'm trying to figure out where did I go wrong.
Love decided it's time to go separate ways
After he did more breaking than mending.
Happiness left me with an excuse saying he had enough
Trying to kill the monsters inside my head.
Hope ran away scared of losing his angels
While trying to get rid of my demons.
Positivity pulled the trigger on his head
Ended his life before it could even begin.
Self-worth hanged himself, said he could no longer
Perceive a sense of his own worth.
Sanity, now a mad man with nothing more to lose,
Wrote me a letter, words written in blood: "Darling, farewell."
Guess they always leave
The places Depression visits.
