The Plague
Humanity wrecked its privilege and promise.
We are incompetent stewards of the Earth.
Minute by minute, we destroy our home.
The faithful claim God’s protection.
The agnostic call it coincidence.
Yet all see the planet’s demise.
But some claim innocent—
Closing their eyes and covering their ears.
Such children does inconvenience make.
Older generations held freedom in their grasp.
They called for changed and saw the world unfold.
Yet millennials watch our country cry.
Smog stifles the young,
Famine kills the weak,
And greed poisons the rest.
The wrong kind of green pours into the land.
Man craves currency and power.
Cold, hard cash controls callous men.
People hold no accountability
For their selfish actions.
They simply say, “I was merely renting.”
