Plain
Plain. Plain. Plain.
That’s what my classmates call me.
Apparently it's because i don’t wake up early enough to do my make up in the morning
And because i don’t listen to the beats constantly playing in the radio
Or maybe its because im not filled in all the right places
It might be because i don't have many friends
Or because i don’t have a boyfriend to kiss all day
I guess it could also be because i don’t get the perfect grades
But why should i be obligated to take on and obey
Just to be accepted by my fellow classmates
Why should i have to cover my skin with foundation?
When later i’ll just get told i'm too insecure to show off my real face.
Why should i have to listen to the artists that sing lines like “Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang”
And later get told to shut off my inappropriate music when i graduate
Why should i be expected to fill in a C cup
Or even take protein and spend hours in the gym to get a slim hourglass shape?
When later i’ll just get told i’m trying too hard to be like the rest.
And that i should be happy with my weight
Why should i have to be friends with everyone at school?
When i know Seth over there can only stand me if i let him copy my math test
And my so called “friends" shut me down when I reach out
Why am i expected to have a boyfriend every other day?
and later be called a slut if i move on before a month
None of this makes any sense!
Why can’t we just open our eyes
And let people be and understand that not everyone will be like you in every way
That a girl isn't a slut for dating a different guy every now and then.
Maybe she's missing the love her father never gave
Or because she just wants to live her life her own way.
Why can't we understand That intelligence isn't based on your gpa
Because some teachers give out easy A’s
While others make you work for the grade
Why can't we understand That the type of music you play doesn’t determine your place.
Because music has changed
And you’ll make it out even if you feel left out.
I guess I do the opposite and that's what keeps me out
While everyone follows I stand out
So yes tell me again
who's the one who's plain?
