Playing God

How to live

  I mean survive

                         in school.

1. Show up.

Show up to the first day of the rest of your life.

Show up to your future.

Show up even when you have fallen down and still can't breathe

Show up for your funeral.

2. Follow the rules.

Follow the rules that keep you safe.

Follow the rules that help you succeed.

Follow the rules that turn and twist leaving you tied up in knots

Follow the rules that make you like everyone else

Follow the rules that change you into something you never wanted to be.

3. Try your best.

Try your best, they mean succeed.

Try your best, but don't make them look bad.

Try your best, and when that isn't good enough,

Keep going.

Try your best until you have nothing left to give

If it isn't enough

Kepp going.

How to live

  I mean survive

                           in school.

1. Show up

2. Follow the rules

3. Try your best

If you do all three

You will turn out exactly how

You're supposed to be.

Or maybe how they wanted you to.
