Playing a Part

I fall in love with the pretty words he sings to me

I fall in love with the way he cares for me

He knows my thoughts like we are meant to be and

I fall in love with the pedestal he has for me

He plays his part, has me head over heels in love with him

He makes me feel smart, telling me I could do anything

I believe his lies, let him lead me to the cage

And now it’s too late; there is no way to escape.

He has me captured.

No way out

I can’t call for help, because I left everybody else

I didn't need anyone if I had him...

That's what he told me, and I believed it.

He makes me feel worthless

if I disagree with him

I live for his approval;

there

is

no

end.

He makes me feel everything and nothing at all

Makes me feel as if I can’t trust my own thoughts

He makes me hate all my little flaws,

But when he first met me,

he told me he saw none.

Each compliment is a thread, as he leads me ahead

He tells me Im gorgeous, a pretty little thing

Then he stomps on my face and tells me im a disgrace.

His words are like anchors, dragging me down,

instead of buoys, saving me from the sound

I wish I had left, when I had the chance,

but the part he played...

I didn’t stand a chance.
