There is no silence, I will keep following the sirens

I can't breathe

At least, I don't feel like I can

I don't know why

Tin wind chimes used for doorbells

Lately this feeling has been a little consuming

Perhaps that's why

It feels as though the air in my lungs has been stolen

We can travel so far as our eyes can see

Why it feels as though my throat is swelling shut

It's an allergic reaction to society

To it's two-faced lies

Just stop your crying, it's a sign of the times

"Be yourself"

"Be like everyone else"

"Love yourself"

I don't know what I'm supposed to do, haunted by the ghost of you

"Change yourself to what we say is best"

"Think for yourself"

"Think this is your opinion"

I could fall, I could fly, here in your aeroplane

They tell us what we want to hear

But we get lost in translation

Because we hear what other people want to hear

In the movements you made and the soft gaze you gave

As well

So then we wonder what is true

What should be

I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh, I'm right over here, why can't you see me

And it tears us apart

Society is wrapping it's pretty noose around my neck

It's pushing it's sweet poison into my lungs

Everybody knows, every single soul's looking for heaven

But my body doesn’t want it

My body fights it

That's why my throat is swollen

Late at night looking at the stars, carry moonbeams home in a mason jar

Why I'm on the edge of tears

Why I feel too much

And nothing at all

Cuz recently the line is blurred between depression and bliss

That's why I'm afraid of the depths of my mind

Afraid of the darkness that could lurk there

That's why I wandered around campus in a daze

Nothing in my head but the holes in my sweater

Lost to the world I was

Until I cried the gas out of my eyes

And saw clearly

It's been a long cold lonely winter

I don't normally write poetry, so if I do post anything, it's really rare, haha. :) Either way, I'm a teenager from Washington state who is a graphic designer and also really likes pizza and Netflix.
