Plea

Fri, 01/08/2016 - 20:10 -- skafsky

Alone in a dark room

nothing to come home to

she's trying to figure out why

Her light rises with the sun

then sets when the day's done

no matter how hard she'll try

I never meant to set sail

don't let me drift off to sea

I never meant to fly alone

with the storm berating me.

And I've never been a fighter

that can't be what life has in store

I wake every day to make life brighter

while I drown in this internal war

She grapples with a stranger

they say it won't phase her

But both of their holds are too strong

His form gets bigger

while she tries to figure

where her doing right went so wrong

And there has to be some other star

with all these shadows so tall

this is my plea for redemption

so please catch me when I fall

I never meant to set sail

don't let me drift off to sea

I never meant to fly alone

with the storm berating me.

And I've never been a fighter

that can't be what life has in store

I wake every day to make life brighter

while I drown in this internal war her doing right went so wrong

Bridge

And there has to be some other star

with all these shadows so tall

this is my plea for redemption

so please catch me when I fall

Chorus

I never meant to set sail

don't let me drift off to sea

I never meant to fly alone

with the storm berating me.

And I've never been a fighter

that can't be what life has in store

I wake every day to make life brighter

while I drown in this internal war
