Pleasant Ennui

A dry, dusted leaf wistfully lays itself upon the earth. Pollen dissipates gently among the wind, and a sweet song resonates across the hills. The playful laughter of children echoes softly for a distance, pleasantly tickling the ears of anyone fortunate enough to be relaxing nearby, under some ancient oak or in front of a sizzling grill. A hummingbird whizzes nearby, and for a moment you can feel the air displaced by its presence upon your face. The horizon is lit ablaze from a chromatic sunset.

Summer.

And the capacity to appreciate it.
