Dear nine year old me,

This age is fun, isn’t it? No real stress or worries in your life. I wish you really appreciated that while you had it. You’re going to realize something at this age. You’re going to realize that there’s something inside of you that has always been there. You’re going to stay up crying about it, thinking you’re completely insane. You’re not. There are so many people like you and you just don’t know it. Seven years from now you’re going to tell your mom about this weight you’ve been caring for so long. You’re going to think it’s going to go very well, but it’s not. You’re going to cry and you’ll feel the weight of the burden inside of you grow even more. It’s okay though because you’re going to get back on your feet and you’re going to be fine. But what do you need to do right now? You need to become okay with yourself. You need to realize that this is no burden or weight, but rather just a small minor detail that makes you slightly unique. This information may sound completely irrational and senseless, but you’ll understand all of this. The one thing that you really need to take away from this is that you’re not abnormal. You’re not crazy, and you don’t deserve the hate and pain you’re going to put on yourself in the next six years. Please remember that it’s okay to be you. Please.
