Please Understand

We are surrounded by people and things,

By those who are chained and by those who have wings,

By those who love life and dare to dream,

And by those who are scared to even be seen.

Do you see them standing?  Back there by the wall?

Do you hear them screaming? Do you hear them at all?

Oh but wait!  Look and listen. Open your mind.

Whatever you see, remember, be kind.

Quickly now and focus, be careful what you see.

Let go of expectations and then we can agree.

Those who stand by the wall, are not all the same.

See some are happy, though some are in pain.

First, please notice, and then understand,

I may be alone, but I like where I am.
