Pleasing Me

A Lot of people could tell you they don't recognize the person I am today

I used to let the world drift by and follow the beaten trails laid out at my feet

It was easy to follow societies casting system on what I should do or say

I didn't see how conformity was tearing the individualist apart within me

The girl who wore blue and purple lipstick had faded to chapstick

A face of vibrant color was now one as blank as a fresh piece of paper

It seems as if my own creativity had grown sick

A sickness that seemed to linger and cloud my eyes like vapor

And the best way to get rid of a clouded mirror is to wipe it all away

Something changed within as if someone stuck a match and with that first spark

Melted away the sombor world of grey

And with the first sight of  a bright colorful day I began to make my mark

The grey was not just a sickness, it was a form of metamorphosis

I had grown and evolved into more than I had ever been before, filled with buzzing new ideas

The feeling of self love and creativity flowing through my veins was the medicine I had been craving that put my mind into a state of pure euphoric bliss

I began to learn that the only person with pleasing

Is me
