This is a red line train to Howard, 87th is next.

Doors open on the left at 87th. Doors closing.

A Person, purposely sitting their bag on the seat next

to them so that they won't have to deal with another human.

So that they will not be bombarded with fake coughs and sneezes to make them move.

This is 87th.

A guy with saggy pants walking in front of a white group of females.

Them trying not to stare and convince themselves he was ignorant. They all are.

Avoiding conflict, let him walk, but please.

Pulls up pants only to let them sway against his thy.

A high school student, walking down Randolph and Wabash.

Avoiding racist stares within the depth of his hood. Walking fast so

that he could catch the J14 to 91st and Jeffery. Frowning his face on every right foot.

Will work for food. Help me I’m starving. Just a penny. Help please I’ll do anything, anything.

Goes home, cuts self.

Son, Mother, daughter, all holding hands while she balances a wood in her mouth.

The scab on the shoulder hadn't healed yet and the weed man hadn't made his daily rounds.

Father? Nope no father, we don't say because that's what we are use to.

Fatherless black kids with a mom that's two days sober and trying

to find the dealer.

Don't ask for nothing when we gets in this store. Its food at home.

A pregnant woman that was already holding one child.

Going to put ten on pump two. Walking like she had just struck gold. Yeah struck gold.

Her food stamps would be there on the 17th but Dinah let her borrow

a few bucks til her social security check rolled in.
