The Plight of the Rainforests

A golden lattice dots the forest floor  Where it seems it will rain forevermore  The lively bird sings, the sleepy sloth crawls  The darkness is lit by the sounds of each and all Amidst the beautiful vivacity  A new, sinister voice - not so lovely  As the first - looms over all - an oppressor in the darkness  Silence  As suddenly as it came, it went.  Yet another noise through the dark is sent  This one louder than the first, growing louder still  An alien predator rips through the treetop sill  Flashes of silver light, screams of the dark  As life screeches, trying to hide - Hark! -  Listen now - As the ground is bathed in light  A new sinsiter voice - not so lovely As the first - looms over all - an oppressor in the brightness  Silence
