Pluto

I was an ignorant Pluto

That’s what I thought

Did I want to accept the truth,

That I was already so distant from you?

I shouldn’t have been that curious

It’s true of that cliché, it really can kill.

Was I such a fool

For discovering the truth,

the whole you?

I was living my little world,

Hiding inside

How naïve was I until I discover,

Staring at the mirror,

Staring into those eyes,

You, you, you

You’ve seen so much,

You can't keep it inside.

Hiding the memories of violence,

Ignoring the lost of a childhood,

Where's daddy, mom?

Friday nights are spent with babysitters.

School nights with homework and critters.

Paint an image, don't let them see,

Be that "dream" daughter you have to be

Filling in the void with homework and books,

Quickly, don’t let friends look

How can I keep moving?

My world, my heart, my soul?

This foundation is built with lies

I've  truly departed with the black hole

High School, new system

Everything is great, that’s what I say

Not till a game, panic attack came

You, what are you?

Empty mind walking to classes,

Be happy, try, why is it too painful to smile in my eyes?

Winter came, a retreat I went.

Sitting in the chapel, doodling away,

I can’t really explain,

I look up, got up, and run to the woods

Finally realizing, it is okay to be you

The world I envision, was a simulation

The truth is mustering, I release it

To this story, I said to my senior religion class,

This is me, my history was told,

I can make mistakes, it’s alright to fail

At the start from time,

My assumption I made

I was really accepted,

Assumption leads to misconceptions my dear friend

Perfect, perfect, perfect, that what I believe,

To be alone, and distant you see

Letting in others, should I or should I not?

Alone, an Untouchable, no more am I

I'm no longer the ignorant planet Pluto

But a meteor brightening up lives.
