Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?

Throughout high school, many students face challenges. Some of their dreams become non-existent due to the challenges. Others love the challenges, like myself . I see challenges as a “ you can’t do it”. This leads  to the feeling of hunger and motivation to overcome this “challenge”. For example, the time I was told “You will never be as good as your brothers. Not even in soccer and especially not in the academics. ”

Being told this at young age was always difficult to deal with, but I wanted to prove people wrong. Every morning I would remind myself, what are going to do that’s going to prove them wrong, but also benefit me. So, I started giving me small goals to achieve . They started becoming milestones. As the years progressed, my mom took me out of soccer due to my older brother playing club soccer, and she did not have time to take me to my games or practices. At age 10-12 ,these two years became known as miserable as far as my athletic side of my life. However, it was great for my education. I became far more focused and started averaging a grade point average of 4.0 . This is when I started to realize that school can take me somewhere in life, but never gave up the dream of playing professional soccer. . As a result , I became to compare the grades I was earning to my brothers. I received a higher grade point average than both my siblings. This is when I began to laugh and told myself, “ you'll never be better than your brothers.” I use this challenge as motivation and now I am dedicated to overcome any challenge that I face.
