PT II

fifteen after two in the morning.

i am never up this late.
i’d fall one which way
and close my eyes to search for purple gold

PT I

five after two in the morning.

i’m never up this late.
i like to chase the rising sun through the morning.
i love to wake with the sky.
and sing with tired birds.
why would i want to stay up this late, and miss the most sun, towards which i can grow.

ten after two in the morning.
i’m never up this late.
i just want to fall asleep to the sounds of clouds forming from evaporated nightmares i won’t have tonight.
oh, i’m afraid.
i don’t want to miss the sun
