a poem

A POEM It’s not what I have read What I have felt, Words not said or loss of thy bread. It is how it speaks to me How it flows into a million ponds and then it’s gone. I wish it would never leave. I want to grasp it in my own two hands, But every time I try it slips through my fingers. I feel as though I am a lost memory walking through forgotten lands Never to be seen again. I want to be saved, to follow my dreams. Just free me from this cage For it never seems to open for me. I scream for it to open So my wings can finally stretch and catch the wind I feel from behind these bars and Finally I can fly! But even so, I doubt these wings can do their job. Their broken, and tattered Abused by those who put me here. I’ve forgotten how to fly and I’m scared Will I remain here forever just watching those words disappear? Why am I here? Why lock a bird away? Why cut her wings and tare Away her dreams? I will never fly, for why? Why lock a bird in a cage when you know it can fly?
