A Poem For Him

A forbidden love

Is like a locked door

One side despair

The other side true love

This door can be opened

In many different ways.

One is confrontation

Trying to break the door down

Can cause both results

Or fear

A fear of the future

A fear of the past

An indifference forced

Between the lives of

Two people.

The second is the box of keys

Many options

With only few unlocking love

Tenacity with the door

Is often tested, and strained

With every key that goes down the drain.

The third is the locksmith

Patience

Evaluation

Understanding of the door

And understanding of the value

That lies behind

But many are not prepared

For the cost the locksmith demands

Time.

For all three

May bring you into the home

Keep you secure

In the flame and the warmth

Of love...

But failure of all three

The lack of

Bravery

Understanding

And patience

Will lead to a place of infinite doors

Infinite possibilities

Infinite failures

A loss of love.

Be brave

Be understanding

Be patient

And the love hiding

Behind the security of that door

Will embrace you

With all it’s heat and gentle flame

As you are the wick

That it longed for

And he is your same.
