A poem is me

A poem is me

It is a reflection of who I am

Who I have come to be

I just hope that all can see

It is the stamp

Of approval

That all my feelings can be placed

On a single paper

Without having to ask for permission

It is my individualism

I set the boundaries

No one can set them for me

So I breathe through my words

Because when it comes to poetry

It’s the only way that I can

And it has become my wings

No one to judge me

I can save some and share others

But the poems that I keep to heart

Will stay with me forever

I can pull that lever

Of freedom, spirituality

Is what fills my heart

And mind

It’s something I will never try to hide

I will strive until the end

So that everyone sees me

In every poem I write

Because it’s what’s inside the words that counts

My emotions fill every word

So when they are spoken

There is a golden token

To fill every single persons heart,

It is not only my happiness

But others that also breathe in my poetry

It can be like medicine to the soul

But you will never know

Until you try to grasp onto my words

It really does work

Books of poems written every day

In order to fill the lungs of poetry readers

How can you explain???

The way these words change the inside

So then the outside can reflect what it just read?

It has become a test for me

In order to see where my limit is set

But I will not regret

Pushing through that limit

Because my imagination is filled with ideas

New stories of heartbreaks, and dark days

But not only the negative but the positive to

Because when it comes to poetry

I am willing to make it new

Even if I have to sing my poem

It’s still considered poetry

No single person will fill me with doubt

Because if they’re not in

Oh well I will never be out

So read the descriptive words

Imagine every single verse

The story behind my poetry

Tell me if I deserve

To have this freedom

When it comes to it

Poetry is my art

The white paper is my canvas

And the words my paint

I know looking at it may drive you insane

I will let everyone unravel

Every piece of art work

Even though it may get harder

Learn to use you heart and

Understanding

So then you too can also breathe

Like me

So then you can see the sun set magnificently

With its colors rushing through the sky

So your eyes will keep glued until the night

Take it in and breathe it out

So the rest can feel it

Because I feel it through my veins

These words feel just right

I will fight

For what is mine

Because this who I am

I am the poem and it is me
