Poem of a Nice Girl
You describe me as a nice girl,
the one who listened in school and kept mother and father happy.
The one who care for others,
the one who helped the less fortunate.
But you failed to mention many things.
You failed to mention the time blackness clouded everywhere,
and made me lose sight of things.
You failed to mention,
that I harmed myself and left myself to bleed.
You failed to mention,
that poisonous words could leak out my mouth like I was born in the bad parts of town.
You failed to mention,
that im selfish because I want you all to myself.
You failed to mention,
that I burned the ones who tried to put out my fire.
You failed to mention,
that I’m the girl your mother warned you about.
Drugs laced in my veins,
alcohol pumping out of my shattered heart.
My oh my I forgot to mention my cold,
almost lifeless heart.
The heart that was shattered by silly boys,
the heart that was meant for love.
I gave love away to easily,
like a broken dam.
Now you are much too late for that love,
the dam was fixed and love hasn't flowed in years.
I tried to warn you,
my lifelessness threw you into my engulfing flames.
but I’m still a nice girl.
