Poems
Poems can't tell you you're beautiful.
Poems can't tuck you into bed.
But poems will always be there,
when you think it's all over.
Poems can help you through a break-up,
the way a best friend should but mine just didn't know how.
Poems can help heal the past, like a mom should
but mine just wasn't sober enough to care.
Poems will not leave you when you need them most.
Poems will not try to change the subject
when you are trying to say how you feel.
But they will not know why that is so hard for you.
Poems are real, but poems can't tell you you're beautiful.
Poems can't feel.
Poems make up for a lot of things I lack in my life,
but I still need people.
To tell me I'm beautiful,
to be there for me when I need it-
and tuck me into bed,
but when that can't happen;
Poems are here.
