Poems

Like chocolate, poems can be small, rich and sweet

and provide themselves, a remedy, in times of grief

or during jubilation, as we jump and sing

They also can be dedicated, in love, to others

as upon them we read, marvel and ponder

Like music, we take vast emptiness and turn it into things of splendor

A beautifully written sight of pleasure we call... poems

Many have found their fame by writing their works down

and so, we continue to read these wonders

as broad smiles, within us, are roused

They're not merely read as a fleeting fun

but for the comforting wisdom you hope to have won

A written knows their purpose as they write

yet the reader may interpret it as they might

words that can uplift and liberate the soul

just as the seas' waters bellow and roll

as the words and inspiration come

let the words, onto the page, flow

"write the vision down," He said

the command has gone out now go!

Let thine pen dance a waltz on the lined dance floor, a page

both when you smile or desire to burst with rage

a great thing they are, as you see

which we pleasure to write with glee
