Poems

I feel empty

Bare

Invalidated

I let you look

And you told me what to do better

You told me it wasn’t about what I said it was

I’m sure you meant well, but it felt

Bad

Barbed

Armed with hurt

Unknowingly you took away my feelings

You took away my pain

I wish you had said something else

Anything

Or even nothing

If you had asked if I was okay

I probably would have said yes, but

It still would have meant the world to me

If you had been silent

I would have been writhing inside, but

At least it wouldn’t fill me with tears

Welling behind my eyes

Bursting at the seams

Holding it all together, because apparently

This isn’t what I think it is

And it isn’t real
